This strain was transmitted to our lab (EPV) in the past years as "MR766 strain". Phylogenetic analysis reveal that It is an African strain of Zika virus but it is different from the others published sequences of MR766 strains
Experiments involving the cultivation of Zika virus strains in France, including at UVE, are conducted under BSL-3 containment. For biosafety reasons, exported viruses must initially be propagated under the same or a higher biosafety level. Therefore, a certificate confirming that the end user's institution operates BSL-3 facilities will be required prior to shipment.
