Real time detection kit for Zika virus targeting the envelope gene. The kit contains positive control, primers and probe for 50 reactions. Real time primers and probe were published by “Lanciotti RS, Kosoy OL, Laven JJ, Velez JO, Lambert AJ, Johnson AJ, et al. Genetic and serologic properties of Zika virus associated with an epidemic, Yap State, Micronesia, 2007. Emerg Infect Dis. 2008 Aug;14(8):1232-9.”

In this 3-day course the basic principles of routine virus typing will be addressed by a combination of lectures, demonstration and hands-on training. Participants will visit the Viroscience clinical virology lab, where they will perform all required laboratory and analysis procedures for routine typing of viruses. Typing of enteroviruses will be used as an example, but the general procedures are applicable to typing of other viruses also. After this course participants should have sufficient knowledge to introduce routine typing of viruses in their own laboratory.

Infectious cell culture supernatant. Mammalian orthoreovirus (MRV); isolate SI-MRV06 is preserved under Viral Storage Medium -80C. To confirm its identity the virus has been fully sequenced. The virus is mycoplasma free.

A panel of 11 samples, including eight extracts from phylogroup 2 & 3 lyssaviruses, RABV and two NTC's (no tissue control). The panel can be anonymised so that the laboratory does not know which RNA comes from which virus. Results will be given to the requesting laboratory on request. The panel would be good for test development and assessing staff competence. RNA from the following viruses will be included: Rabies virus, Lleida Bat Lyssavirus, Ikoma virus, Shimoni Bat virus, Mokola virus and Lagos Bat Lyssaviruses a, b, c & d.
